Pure Vodka in Paradise
The Pristine Sea Breeze, made with Pristine pure vodka, is a classic drink considered an official cocktail by the IBA (International Bartenders Association). The Sea Breeze story starts in the 1920’s but the ingredients were much different then than what they are now in any bar around the world.
Gin and grenadine were originally used in the first Sea Breeze. Then in the 1930’s key components were changed to gin, apricot brandy, and grenadine with lemon juice.
The cocktail with the ingredients we use today was created as a promotion by the Ocean Spray drink company. Cranberry growers offered the company a special agreement – so cranberry juice entered the market. In the 1960’s the popularity of vodka was growing fast, so Ocean Spray decided to use this fact for their own promotion – offering the delicious combination of cranberry juice and pure vodka.
The launch was successful. People loved the cocktail with its spiked fruit punch and just a hint of tart citrus in the background. The drink was in a list of the ten most popular cocktails ordered in bars for quite a long time. This beverage follows classical cocktail principles balanced with strong (Pristine Premium vodka) and weak (juice), sweet and sour.
Craft Your Bliss with a Pristine Sea Breeze
Sea Breeze consists of 3 ingredients: Pristine Premium vodka, grapefruit juice and cranberry juice. Even the name of this cocktail is refreshing. Take a sip and dive into summer daydreams.
Ingredients
1 ½ ounces of Pristine Premium Vodka
1 ½ ounces of cranberry juice
4 ounce of grapefruit juice
1 ½ cups of ice cubes
1 lime wedge
Directions:
There are two classic ways of preparing this cocktail. The first one requires a shaker and the second one does not. So if you want to make your cocktail faster and simpler, use the second option. But if you want to be able to imagine the sea in your sea breeze use the first way.
Option 1:
Take a collins glass, fill it up with ice and add some cranberry juice.
Take another highball glass; pour grapefruit juice and Pristine Premium vodka in it. Now shake it dry (without ice) in a shaker. Pour your mixture slowly over the cranberry juice and ice in the collins glass. Garnish with two straws and a bright green lime wedge. Here it is your personal sea breeze!
Option 2:
Use a highball ball glass. Fill it up with ice. First add Pristine Premium Vodka. Add cranberry and grapefruit juice, then stir. Garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge on the edge of the glass.
Adding some fresh juice to your cocktail is a fantastic idea. But even when it’s cranberry season making your own cranberry juice is no simple task. It is much simpler with grapefruit juice where you only need a manual juicer and a bit of muscle power to make a fresh juice Sea Breeze.
You may add Blue Curacao to either version – enough to turn the drink to an aqua sea blue ~ but then that creates a new cocktail!
